This exciting event promises an afternoon brimming with cultural immersion, captivating entertainment, and a chance to celebrate the beauty of Hawaiian traditions.

Hō’ike, meaning “to share,” is an annual showcase where hula schools present their talents and dedication to the art form. Kūhai Hālau O Kanoheaokalikolaua’e Pā ‘Ōlapa Kahiko, under the guidance of Kumu Hula Nohea Macugay, invites you to witness their artistic journey this year. Their theme, “Ho’omoe Wai Kāhi Ke Kāo’o” translates to “Let All Travel Together Like Water Flowing in One Direction – Forward Together in Unity.” This powerful message underscores the unifying spirit of Hawaiian culture and the importance of moving forward as a community.

The festivities kick off at 2:15 pm at the Sheldon High School Performing Arts Center in Sacramento, California. Before the main event, attendees can explore the vibrant marketplace brimming with vendors offering an array of treasures. Immerse yourself in the sights and sounds of Hawaiian arts and crafts, perhaps discovering a unique souvenir or a special piece to add a touch of island flair to your life.

As the clock strikes 3:00 pm, the stage transforms into a captivating display of Hawaiian dance. The program promises a dynamic showcase of hula styles, from the powerful kahiko (ancient) to the graceful auana (modern). Let the rhythmic chants and the captivating melodies transport you to the heart of Hawaiian culture, as the dancers tell stories of their heritage and traditions.

But the celebration doesn’t end there! The afternoon is further enriched by the lively performances of special guests.
